Star Pose!

Star Pose!

This pose has so many benefits even thought it looks fairly simple! And it can be done by most humans ages walking and up!

•This pose gives strength to the heels and the balls of the feet.

•It makes the shoulders stronger.

•This pose gives strength to the sacrum (the lowest part of the backbone).

•It provides a perfect alignment to the body.

•It enhances the balancing power of the body.

•Star pose helps to focus on awareness when we hold the pose for a longer count of time.

•It removes the stiffness by opening up the chest using the rib cage muscles effectively.

•The best way out for improving the flexibility of joints.

•It provides balance to both parts of the body which eventually rectifies the posture.

And bonus points if you can do it at the beach with a wave crashing at your ankles!

Tree Pose!

Tree Pose!

Yea I know it’s January and Christmas is over BUT our local @cambriapineslodge is still hosting Christmas lights until the end of the January!

So we threw on our Christmas sweaters, booked a room, and enjoyed the magic of Christmas all over again!

@cambriachristmasmarket is an annual tradition in our county. This year the market was closed due to the pandemic but the lights were still going strong!

Back to Tree pose!

Tree pose is such a fun pose that can be done from toddler age and up!

Tree pose has many benefits:

•creates balance

•helps feet and legs stay strong

•engages the core muscles

•encourages stillness and finding deep breaths

Can your child balance something on their head in tree?

Can they try balancing on a book or yoga block?

Can they hold the pose for 3, 5, or 10 seconds?!

Enjoy and make it fun!

Seven Days of Partner Yoga, Day 6-Partner Elevator

Day 6 of our “Seven Days of Partner Yoga”!
Today we are featuring “Partner Elevator”! 🏢🏙🌇

This is a core strength & balance building partner yoga pose that can be done between siblings or between adult and child. 👦👧👩‍🦱🧑‍🦱👨‍🦰👩‍🦰

To practice Partner Elevator, squat facing your partner & hold hands.
Open your elevator door(your arms on one side) and let some pretend people in the elevator.
Close the elevator door.
Count from 1 to 5 slowly and together going up to floor 5 from squat to standing or tippy toes! Open the other “elevator door” (your other arm side) to let the people out.
Close the door and slowly go back down to a squat counting down from 5 to 1. 🌆🌃🏢
Challenge: Try it multiple times! Or count from 1 to 10! Try counting in a different language!

Seven Days of Partner Yoga, Day 7-Partner Beach Chair

Day 7 of our “Seven Days of Partner Yoga”! This is our final day.
Thanks for joining!!
Today we are featuring “Partner Beach Chair”! 🏖 🏝

This is a resting hip & heart opener partner yoga pose that can be done between siblings or between adult and child. 👦👧👩‍🦱🧑‍🦱👨‍🦰👩‍🦰

To practice Partner Beach Chair, sit back to back with your partner. Put your legs in butterfly with the soles of your feet touching. 🦋 🦋
One person will be the “chair”
by folding forward at the hip to bring their nose closer to their toes.
The other partner will be the person relaxing on the chair by letting their body gently fall back onto the “chair”.
Take 3 or more deep breaths together. 🌬

If one partner is much smaller(such as in the photo), be mindful to not put your full body weight by using your arms as support on the ground. 👩‍👧👩‍👦👨‍👦👨‍👧
This pose works best with two partners that are relatively the same height.
👬👭👫
The partner that is the “chair” will receive a nice hip stretch in a forward fold. 🦋
The partner that is laying on the chair will receive a nice front body, heart opener. ❤️

There are many ways to practice partner tree! One way to practice Partner Tree is by standing facing each other, hold hands or press palms together.
Bring opposite feet up to your standing leg inner calf or above your knee on your thigh. Younger toddlers can also practice baby tree by putting their foot on top of their standing foot! 🌲 🌲

Seven Days of Partner Yoga, Day 3-Flying Partner Pose

Day 3 of our “Seven Days of Partner Yoga”! Today we are featuring “Flying Partner Pose” which is actually considered acro yoga! ✈️ 🦅

This is a strength, flexibility, & trust building partner yoga pose that can be done between older siblings (ages 6+) or between adult and child. 🧑 🧒
To practice this acro yoga pose, lay on your back. For toddlers, have them place their full torso on your shins. Hold their hands or arms and lift your shins to 90 degrees! Make bird or airplane noises together!
For older kids, lay on your back with knees bent. Place your feet on the front outer edge of the pelvic bone(not their tummy). Hold their hands and slowly bring your legs up so they can fly!
Encourage the child to straighten their arms to help build arm & back muscle strength. As kids get stronger, they can slowly let go of your hands and use their back muscles to hold their torso up! 💪🏼

Seven Days of Partner Yoga, Day 2-Seated Double Wide Angle

Day 2 of our “Seven Days of Partner Yoga”! Today we are featuring “Seated Double Wide Angle” aka “Partner Leg Stretch”. 🦵 🦶

This is an enjoyable partner yoga pose that can be done between siblings or adult and child.

To practice Partner Leg Stretch, sit facing each other and open your feet & legs at a comfortable angle. Depending on the length of your child’s legs, their feet can touch your feet or their feet can touch the inside of the partner’s knees or calves as shown in the picture.
Hold hands or wrists.
Rock back & forth slowly.
You can count to 10 or sing “row row row your boat” to add some fun! 🚣‍♀️

This pose helps stretch the backside of the legs which can aid in alleviating those kid leg growing pains. Try to sit with a tall back(unlike myself in this pic) 😂

Seven Days of Partner Yoga, Day 1-Mouse in House aka Lizard on Rock

Today we kick off the first day of our “Seven Days of Partner Yoga”! 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️
Today we are featuring “mouse in house” 🐭 🏠 a.k.a. “lizard on rock”. 🦎

This is a fun partner yoga pose that can be done between siblings or adult and child.
🧒 👩 👧👨👩‍🦱👨‍🦱🧑‍🦱
To practice “Mouse in House”, one person will find mouse pose and the second person will lay their back on top of the mouse! If adults and children are practicing together, I encourage only the adult be the mouse and the child be the house. Siblings can take turns with the poses depending on their size.

The person that is in mouse will have a grounding experience while the person that is the house will experience an inversion, heart opener and slight backbend. ❤️

A challenge could be to take three deep breath’s together as partners. 🌟
